Sueno: I’m just sacrificial lamb and no hurt feelings as he and Duterte part ways

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, April 6 – Former Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno, who claimed he just a sacrificial lamb, said he is innocent and has no hurt feelings with President Rodrigo Duterte who fired him over corruption allegations.

Sueno, also former governor of South Cotabato province, told location radio station Thursday he cannot sleep and he felt heaviness after he was fired by the President.

“I am ashamed for my families as well for the people of South Cotabato because of the controversies. But I am not mad with our President,” he said.

Sueno maintained he is innocent of corruption allegations and his conscience is clean.

Sueno believed he was just a sacrificial lamb in the governments’ anti-corruption campaign.

“I’m not a corrupt official. I’m just a victim of intrigue and I never accepted not a single centavo. I already accepted God’s plan for me,” he said.

For South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance-Fuentes, Sueno is a man with integrity.

“I’m saddened by the incident but we cannot question the decision of the President,” Fuentes said.

Fuentes said the ex-governor family is a known in business and having a hotel and other properties can’t be a basis for the accusation.

President Duterte fired Sueno on April 3 after three Interior undersecretaries sent a letter to Malacañang telling the President the questionable purchases of Sueno. (End)
