EU current account surplus stands at 15.1 bln euros in March

BRUSSELS, May 24 — The 28-nation European Union (EU) seasonally adjusted external current account recorded a surplus of 15.1 billion euros (about 16.61 billion U.S. dollars) in March, down from 18 billion euros in the previous month, the EU statistical office Eurostat said on Friday.

The adjusted data also showed the surplus of the current account rose on a year-on-year basis from 7.6 billion euros in March 2014.

Compared with February 2015, based on seasonally adjusted data, the surplus of the goods account and the services account both fell, while the surplus of the primary income account grew.

These data are subject to revision, according to the Eurostat. (1 euro = 1.10 U.S. dollars). (Xinhua)
